Default Driving without a front bumper. . .

Some thieving pikies have stolen the front bumper from my brothers E36 M3 on Saturday night.

These are not easy to come by.

Legally how does he stand if he continues to drive his car in this state?

Obviously he he gets pulled he'll be on the way to a garage to get a quote. . .

On the +ve side, they did a good job at removing the bumper - nothing broken, no scratches. . . . .

I'd think he would be fine unless there are any sharp/dangerous bits sticking out and the plate is where it should be. But just an assumption although not all cars have front bumpers do they? dl

The only very dangerous bits I can see are the bumper mounting points - these would hurt if if clipped someone.

Just looks very unsightly.

Agreed, or remove them if possible.
Traffic could well take offence to it and declare it unroadworthy though.

Spot on. I think you could probably chance it though, a mate of mine drove his e36 without a front bumper for the best part of a year - cos he's a tight git!

Maybe the plod would be forgiving to a "victim of crime"?
