Fractured Sternum
Hi all,
Need some advice please.
I tripped over on Tuesday night and went chest first into the bathroom sink.
Suffered the pain and went to work on Wednesday but ended up at the doctors yesterday and she sent me to x-ray where they discovered I had a hairline frature of my sternum.
I've been given some painkillers to help, but tbh they only take the edge off the pain for half an hour or so and I'm back to square one!
Does anyone know roughly how long I'm going to be in this much pain?? Also (agian roughly) how long I'm likely to be off work? I'm one of the sad few who enjoys her job and am impatient - but unable to go in!!
Thanks in advance,
Kirsty

If it's anything like cracked ribs (speaking from recent experience here), then it's likely to be painful when moving (especially in bed) for a couple of weeks, then it'll subside to an ache with the odd moment of pain as you catch it.
Stock up on nurofen, that helps.
