If I was looking I would move to Annecy in a flash. Its an hour to Geneva so great worldwide air links, great ski resorts all about and the views! (lake surrounded by mountains I don't think i would ever get board of looking at!)
This along with great road links and big citys near by makes it my ideal location to want to live really!

I have lived in France for four years in the Loire Valley which is in the centre of France. Nice long summers (average 30 degrees) and short mild winters. Easy access back to the UK with only a 5 hour trip back to the ferry ports. A beautiful area and world famous for its Chateaux, history, wine and is a UNESCO world heritage site. The area has the second largest holiday market in France so renting out shouldnt be a problem if you get your marketing correct. Its the only area of France that has three major cosmopolitan cities within an hour of each other, Angers, Tours and Le Mans so there is plenty to do and see and you should never be bored. Don't forget Le Mans 24hr race!!!
I'm an estate agent with my own agency Archard Immobilier - Français et Internationaux dans le Val du Loire if there is anything of interest drop me an email and I'll send you more details.
