If you click on this link you'll see there's quite a few photo's of planes landing at this airport, have a scan through them all there's some cracking shots!

Mind you I always thought this was a good picture as well... it's a bit more local..

Probably just panning, like in motorsport. The landing speed of a 747 is probably reasonably high, so the static stuff will be blurred if they are following the plane correctly.

There are loads of photos from that place, would love to go and see it.

I know its not quite the same but when I go visit my bro in Gibraltar, it always makes me laugh that the runway has traffic lights and everyone has to wait for the plane to land before being able to drive/walk over to Spain

That brings back some memories! I used to live in Witney and go to school just outside Faringdon, quite often to journey to school would be halted at the lights. Usually nothing more exciting than DC10s and C130H (can't spell hecules)

I did watch some kind of dogfight/target avoidance type thing between 2 A10s and a stealth over brize norton a few years ago.

The approach into Ascension Island is similar to that except that there is a bit of a cliff between the beach and the runway. You get quite a bit of turbulence due to the wind by the cliff. The first landing I did there in the VC10 was at night so I couldn't see the cliff which helped

That's a fairly normal approach to the old Hong Kong airport, as you can see from this:

YouTube - Japan Airlines Boeing 747 crosswind landing Hong Kong

Looks even better at night:

YouTube - Cockpit View Night IGS 13 approach landing Hong Kong Kai Tak

What's your problem?

This is a 747 landing at SXM from the pilots view.

The runway in Gibraltar is uphill from each threshold to the centre so you cant see the crossing or the second half of the runway as you are rolling uphill on the first bit. The first time you land there it makes you hit the brakes hard since you dont know how much runway you have left until you get to the top of the hill!

As a passenger its a bit alarming on take off when the first thing the plane does is bank hard (can't remember which direction). Its cool sitting on the balcony of the main building watching the planes land.

They just sold a flat in Bomb Lane. Think they are renting in Alcaidesa until they find somewhere new on Gib itself. They need to hurry so as not to lose the benefits of being Gib based (schools and stuff)

He works for (I think) Bet and Win and his wife works for Victor Chandler.

Would love to work there too.
