Palmersport
Just been on the updated and refined Palmersport day which is a must for petrolheads.
It would seem that track days at Bedford are over as they run these six days a week now and run race events on Sundays!
The cars in order of speed are...
Formula Palmer Audi
Palmersport Jaguar Le Mans Sports Car
Jaguar XKR
911 JP3
Caterham Superlight
Renault Cup Sport Racing car
Karts
Land Rover Defender over the obstacle course
It is a a truly brilliant day out with instructors who push and push and push to get the best lap time out of you. What intrigued me is how I performed quite badly on the slower cars and was much better on the faster cars, winning the 911 sprint and being fastest on the Caterham autotest (I also won the Land Rover obstacle course as well!).
Beg, borrow or blag your way onto this event - it is excellent - and no more expensive than a fully insured track day or a trip to the 'Ring or a hired Caterham for the day.

For those of us that have never been to the ring, hired a Caterham or bothered with trackday insurance ( ), can you tell us what the cost is?

I have to say I don't know the exact price - however it is around £700 per head for a larger booking including all the food etc.
Looking at the new layouts they have it is hard to see that the full GT circuit can work anymore. They now have four distinct circuits, each with their own pits etc.

I did this last year when they had the 350Z and a few other cars. I would second what Rannoch says - it really is a great day out. Not cheap but you at least get a decent amount of time behind the wheel of each car. I loved the Clio Cup racers and the Palmersport Jaguar is just awesome
Think I might have to go and do this again.

I did it last year as well. Loved the 350z - loads of power slides. I spun the 911 twice. Opps The instructor in the PalmerSport Jaguar spent all my laps screaming at me to go faster - the limits on the car seemed far far away from my ability and I felt like I was flying.
£700 is the figure I heard but Siemens were paying for me

I went last year too, but Invesco Perpetual paid for me! But in saying that I would pay myself to do it again as it great. When I did it the off road course was in a Nissan and the 350z's were there too.
First class day out. Do it!
