Default Best HD ready LCD TV?

Im looking at getting 40/42" LCD TV thats HD ready, just wondered who's got some cracking deals? Price wise dont really want to spend more than 8/900 quid, any ideas?

I saw comet are doing a SONY KDL-40S2510 for 799 (although no stock!) which seems a good deal or is it?

Cheers

i paid £800 for one of them fellas just over a 2 months back

cracking TV`s but some have problems.....

a few tend to end up with blue sparkle pixels down the left hand side, i read vast amounts of horror reports on the net from people who have had problems with the tech repair blokes trying to fix the problem and making it worse, before eventualy offering a new tv

i also found a tech forum somewhere with vauge instructions on how to repair the problem

yup i have had the back off my 2 month old plasma and have adjusted the pannel voltages to fix the fault LMAO

girlfriend and mates think i have lost the plot

fault was fixed in around 10 mins flat, it seams some of the monkeys in the factory dont set the voltages propperly

sti i will PM you as i have a few tricks for getting a beter picture

the blue sparkle pixels were most noticeable on the xbox360 dash, when ever you press the guide button to bring the blade over from the left it would show blue up in the top left corner.

i let this slide for a while, tried a diff av cable, various settings resolutions etc etc, then i started getting it when ever the tv was warm and there was dark grey colours in the top left corner (gears of war etc etc)

then i noticed it while watching severance on dvd (again on the 360) i assumed it was a 360 fault, until i noticed on freeview while wtaching some trashy 3rd rate channel LOL

anyway its an easy fix if yours happens to go the same way

LCD as won the Plasma vs LCD war

"That's partly because LCD is available over such a vast range of screen sizes. From tiny 7 in to 65in living room behemoths , and also because so many more manufactures have chosen to back LCD, as its reckoned to be cheaper to mass produce "

But I thought that plasma was only better than LCD over 42"?

besides do I want the hassle of burn-in, re-gassing? Thats why everyone wants LCD these days. To be honest Im not sure what to go for, when I look at plasma I do think they look brighter but LCD is catching up.

Burn-in has not been an issue with plasma for over 5 years. The new panels do not suffer from this at all. Re-gassing is a myth ! The screen is made up of millions of tiny individual fluorescent tubes. Can you imagine the microscopic pipe work if they could be fed fresh gas from a single re-gas valve, or the time it would take to do each one individually Current plasmas have a working life which extends beyond 15 years of 12 hour a day use. I viewed both at length before making my choice, and plasma always has a much more natural look to it, more film-like. LCD always seems artificial with exaggerated colour and contrast, probably set like that in a bid to prevent you noticing the poor black levels. Under 42" then LCD is the way to go, but over that, and especially if you watch lots of films as opposed to TV and gameplay then plasma is still king.

Absolutely agree, But if LCD's are cheaper to mass produce then they will come out tops .

Cool

I went after the Samsung 40" 1080p LCD after much soul searching, and I have to say I'm mightily impressed.

I'm not saying that LCD is better than plasma, but this set is very impressive, and for a good price.
