Need a new watch battery - Longines
Hello
This is one for all the watch buffs. I have a 2004 model Longines Lungomare watch. The battery died a couple of days ago, so does anyone know anywhere in the South East/London that will be able to replace it and reseal it ? Or does it have to go back to Longines ? Any ideas on cost ?
Dave

I'd just use some silicon grease or if I was really bothered buy a back gasket from cousins. Less than 10 minutes work. It's not as if you are going to be diving with it.

Mate most of the proffesional watch repairers who charge £35+ to replace the battery and re-seal it are a waste of money.
I took an Ellesse (Not that expensive) watch to Mapin and Webb in Manchester (Queens Jewellers) who promptly broke the screw in crown (it would only wind forwards not back) and then it leaked in the bath, not exactly 100m is it.
It was taken back the following day and they found the back wasnt screwed on properly at all, to be fair they did repair it and gave a refund but thats it.
I now go to a market stall guy i know with all the correct tools who puts new batteries and rubber seals in for £3 per watch.
Never once have i had an issue with any of my wifes or my watches since.
