Default Had a lumbar puncture yesterday...

I had to have a Lumbar Puncture (aka Lumber punch) and a CT scan yesterday.... looking for bleeding in my brain.

Scan no problem- but the punch,
F*ck me....I have never felt so much pain in all my life.
24 hrs later and still in agony. Can't deviate from lying down for very long, so am effectively totally crippled until its healed. Wanred me that headache would come back because of it, and they weren't wrong.

For those not in the know, or too lazy to use google, basically they stick a needle into your spine in between two vertebrae to withdraw spinal/brain fluid for testing... lovely
Especially nice when they brush the nerve slightly when doing it, and you get what feels like an electric shock down your legs

You should try having a Black and Decker hand drill used to put holes in the side of your head then. The noise is enough.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sh*t, I'm genuinely sorry to hear that mate.

I would make jokes about turning the headphones down a bit, but it might seem inappropriate.

Well you never know....gievn what some of these rigs pump out it wouldnt surprise me.

Still hurting today lots - but now feeling like I want to throw up. Lovely.
On a positive note, the basic test results for blood in my spinal/ fluid have come back negative. Just need to wait for the detailed ones to come now in a day or two....

Sorry to hear about that unpleasantness. I had to have one too before an op and it is not nice!

Glad to hear it was negative and good luck with the rest of the reports.

I had an LP too.....although 10 times though over the course of 2 weeks. They injected chemo into my spine.

Still in remission 3 years down the line
