Default Grrr @ rip off fridge parts suppliers

The heater element on our absorption fridge has packed in.

Now all it is is a 95watt 240volt tubular element, not too different from that on a soldering iron. They are fitted in pretty much every Electrolux/Dometic fridge in almost every Motorhome/RV/Caravan across the globe, so not exactly a rare or specialist part....

The first one cost us £25, no problem, but alas, the company that supplied has been taken over. And the heater element has since failed (they last about 5 years if used continuously; which it is).

Now the same part is £53 plus delivery Christ what a mark up! With all this hoohar on environmental waste, it would be in the best interest to keep the fridge working for as long as feasibly possible, but if they charge that much for a mere heater element then I may as well buy a new fridge and dump the old one in the local land fill (don't worry on CFCs, absoption fridges use Amonia which has no CFCs ).

All the online companies refer to the exact same buying system as if they are all part of the same company, and to add insult the part if not in stock comes direct from their supplier...i.e they are a middle man creaming profit If only I could find out who supplies them....

Oh well, one last gasp call to Electrolux/Dometic to see if they can source me the part at its orginal feasible price.....

BTW if anyone can supply the part: the fridge is a Electrolux EA0600, product no:921150129

Rant over.
