Question Cleaning the chip-fryer

Got an electric chip fryer, not the expensive one with a filter lid, but the cheapy £25 one. It works fine, but does get clagged up with grease. (At least it doesn't use up a £10 filter every three weeks )

Except that it's NOT exactly like grease. It's STICKY and has the consistency of soft Evo-Stick

And NOTHING, but nothing I've yet found will remove it. So I'm down to scraping

Anyone know of a product that WILL remove it? I've even tried stripping the fryer into it's constituent parts and putting it through the dishwasher, (all except the element/control bit), but it STILL came out with sticky goo on it that had to be manually removed

What you need is one of these

Fairy Powerspray, some bloody hot water and some rubber gloves.

Spray liberally with fairy and leave for 1/2 hour or so. Pour a little hot water into the bottom and set about greasy **** with the metallic sponge.

Not easy or pleasant, but does the trick.

BTW - I got rid of my fat fryer years ago - too much like hard work!

Neat Cif cream with a sponge scourer gets it off quite well.
