Do you get random women calling at you in the street often then?

I don't wish to offend anyone, but personally, its always seemed a bit pretentious to name your child after a prophet.

That said, I do seem to see a lot of parents these days referring to their kids as "Jesus Christ, you little *******"

I think you'll find the reason for the original statement is that a lot of Muslim families still stick to traditional names (like Mohammed), whereas a lot of the non-Muslim Brits choose weird names for their kids, instead of the traditional John/Steve etc.

Spot on and most muslims will have Mohammed as a first name but won't necessarily use it as a first name.

So, all Asian men have the same name, six thousand out of a minority is a lot and I might be missing out on the cultural aspect, i.e. I myself am named after a religious figure and its a common name but not all my mates and family are named after the same one as well as it would be confusing and impractical.

Or is there some other way of identifying each other, do they use nicknames or pet names instead ?

Or is it becoming more common now as a stand against western influence to remind the young guys of their religion ?

In the airline world, stewards and stewardesses call women who have a relationship in the middle east with a man, MMID'S, short for 'My Mohammed is Different' !
