Less people on Snet? Where is fat-thomas?!?!
Hi All,
I've been a member here for 4 years, took a break for the last year, and now i'm back in another Scooby, so back on Snet!
Is it me, or is there less people on Snet then there has been in the past 4 years?
Seems to be less threads, less banter, less fun!
Also, Where is Fat-Thomas?!?!?! I miss his wit and sense of humor!!!

Too many have left due to being shouted down over technical issues by "few post wonders" who know everything as "It worked on my RS Turbo".
Lots have left after being insulted when they didn't give the required answer to a question posed and got abuse for it.
And many more are just sick of the daily "What's it worth?" thinly veiled selling posts.

There are better impreza forums out there with genuine enthusiasts.
I don't use this place half as much as I used to, it's good for the for sale section but that's about it.
Last I heard about Fat Thomas was he fitted some lexus lights to his blob and started a Facebook group about ebay modded impreza's.

Its a shame.
I have, and still do get a lot of information insight into scooby stuff/problems that we all encounter at one point or another through the search button.
I've only been away for a year, and it feels like Snet has lost something, including some charismatic, cheeky characters.
Hopefully it bounces back!
Even the for sale section doesnt seem as buzzy as it used to. Maybe there is less people interested in scoobies these days?

Anyone care to PM me for a decent Impreza site that doesn't have snobs, trolls and narcissists? It seems this place has gone downhill recently. To be honest I thought the aforementioned lardy Tom had some hand in it, trolling and forum abuse may be funny but you soon go through enough victims to empty a place pretty quick.

Love them or most people hated them but they were the masters of scoobynet who could get ten pagers with their rantings have all disspaeared
They made scoobynet fun
We don't get any dump valves threads any more 2 years ago wE used to get them weekly Never seen them for months and were always good for a five pager
I've been in for nearly 15 years now and have witnessed the scooby scene dying
After the 09 modles and the 2.5 engines going pop look at the hundreds of pages of engine problems who is honestly going to buy another Subaru again ?
There is a handful of new shaped STi on the road which are a great car but memories are long ( mine included ) and would you want to pay 30k for a car with a three year warrenty and wonder if the engine will fail ?
The whole network is disapearing to just some hard core people left
I ran the NBO for 11 years and got 300-400 cars at every show and people lived for that show
When CS made me resign they have had 100-120 at the last two shows Which shows the ownership and enthususm is going down Fast
The club scene is failing
TTS had disappeared ( we used to get 60 cars turn up at the monthly meetings
CS has 5/6 members left
Darlington club dissapeared
dumfries club disspaeared
NESF have very few members turn up at meetings
That just the clubs that were in my area
We have bucked the trend at B-SPOC woth 18/25 cars turning up at our meetings as my friend martin decided diversification is the future with 40 % subaru owners in the club and the rest a mixture if sports and performance cars as people's cars change but they still want to be part of a club we are a very successful club
There is no runs left anymore Rob and myself could get 30/50 cars on the cumbrian runs
Now there is none or meetings
Forums
There is only a few left
Scottish scoobs is busy
Lads forum is still active
All the others I visited have just 2/3 posts a week if your lucky
Facebook has killed most forums as you can easliy access them from your smart phone and post photos with just one click as witnessed by the very active north east Subaru owners club pages with 20/30 posts per day with car pictures which makes a very good page and instant messages
There is probably nothing left to talk about Subaru wise
Like when your married for 20 years you run put of things to talk about
Modifications have all been done and discussed
There is nothing To aim for in the future like saving up for a new Sti or replacement car as the 09 + are ticking time bombs unless forged
No club structure left
People have moved on to expensive performance cars or had families and got sensible cars
The chav element has ruined Subaru symbolised by the drug dealer Callum on coronation street and cars are worth more in bits then complete
So grim reading for the scene but there is a few hardcore ones left
Fighting the rust in their classics and renovating and preserving them
Every show I take my Greenwagon people come up and talk about them and talk about the past .
They will go up in value like the cosworths /RS as collectors cars of the future as they get rare I only ever see a handful on the roads now and they tend to be weekend cars
I'm afraid this forum like the scene is dying but it was great in its hayday

Trolls and their hangers on did nothing for this place and ran off a fair few decent literate posters that came along in the last few years, there's only so much abuse people can take, it becomes tiresome and boring when trolls follow people around the site commenting on every post they make, for a time almost every thread was like that, with the usual suspects such as Tubbs and crew pushing people out.
Amusing though it may have been sometimes, in the end it just went too far and put even those that weren't on the receiving end off the site, and the mods did noting to reduce the levels of blatant trolling that went on until it was too late.
Sure Facebook has played a part in the demise of Snet, but ultimately Trolls killed off the new blood as it came through the door and the veterans just got sick of reading the same old cr4p.
I've been taking more time out recently too and just came back the past few days and noticed the absence of F1 Fan, not sure whats gone off there.

The whole subaru scene is dying out, subaru killed off all of there fanatical support when they brought out the hatch.
There now cheap enough to be bought by the chavs, they then can't afford to maintain them properly or do it on the cheap and f*ck them up, which in turn turns people off them.
Give it another 5-10 years and decent classic impreza's will start to become a rare thing.

i guess youre all missing me ! , kinda lost interest in here once i sold my mighty wrx :-) - i did spot angel who was briefly here on an insignia forum a few weeks ago but guessing hes moved on again as he bought a bmw iirc
for sale ads were always of interest to me here tbh as i passed thru scooby ownership - a lot of the endless arguments got boring to read so i just didnt bother reading them tbh
and yup ,,, just about the only part off the scooby i havent managed to sell is ,,,,,,
dump valve :-)
