Bit silly to let it go wide on that corner, its pretty well flat in most cars anyway. He did the right thing though-ie to hit the brakes hard and kill as much speed as possible once he had lost all control.

Whatever happened to turning into the skid??? Thought he actually had caught it after 360degrees but he was a bit overzealous with the wheel!

im fairly young driver but i think know a little. I would have braked before hand a touch, and neutral acceleration through the corner. Or kept it in neutral acceleration, not lifting off letting the weight shift in the corner.

That is a very fast corner but you have to get it right from the beginning. He ran wide possibly through taking an early apex and once you get onto the dirt at those speeds you are virtually a passenger for a while. His action to hit the brakes hard was the best option in order to kill the speed and that gave him the chance to gather it together at a lower speed and luckily he missed all the hard bits!

^^this^^ plus turning into the skid only works at shallow angles, and putting a car into a 360 spin (accidentally or not) often saves you from hitting the walls*
*and yes I've hit the pit wall at donnington in the wet when racing.
