Default Buying Mobiles from Ebay

Just wondering if i was to buy a new phone from ebay, boxed etc if the phone was on a contract and if that was to be unpaid, does that mean my phone will get blocked? Just don't want to save a couple of quid if it means i get a phone which is useless.. I remember they usually block the sim and not the phone, am i remembering correctly?

Thanks in advance.

Right if you do it online you get 50/50chance loads of codes and messing about after that it will work or not!if you take it to your local dodgy phone shop/market........not high street shop like vodaphone and the rest!

they will have the codes rigged upto the lap top already and it will take a few minutes!

there are some phones now that are a bugger to unblock. I have tried a few places and none could unblock my Nokia 5500 sport.

Only option that was open to me was to plead to the network who supplied it and pay £20...something that I have not done yet

Question locked - or blocked?

Seems to be some confusion here between locked phones and blocked phones...

Locked - legal to unlock - service provider ~ £20, non-franchised shops ~ £10 - or use service cable and PC software in most cases...

Blocked - due to being stolen - is illegal to unblock - need IMEI changed AFAIK...

Thats correct, once you have reported the lost/stolen phone your service provider will have the IMEI number blocked on ALL networks, so it cannot be used again unless you can change the IMEI and your average man in the street won't be able to do this.

A shop local to me reckons he can do this but he charges £70 whether he can or not though is another matter

THIS site is great for unlocking phones. Loads of techy-type people from all around the world doing it

Have unlocked several phones using information from this site

All you tend to need is a data cable for your phone.....
