When I consistently read posts and thread that describe in emphatic terms about how this country is going to the dogs, or there is some great PC conspiracy, or that it is not like it used to be, or that some people cannot wait to leave, it got me thinking.

What is it that defines a country? In my humble opinion a country is like a team, it is defined by those who live in it and and make up the population.

So if that is true, are we not critical of ourselves, either our action or inaction in making this country what it is?

I am of course reminded of that famous US quote, "Ask not what your country will do for you, ask what you can do for your country".

My modern interpretation is that a lot of the energy seems to go into worrying about the 'right thing to do' rather than 'doing the right thing'.

What would I like to do for my home country. Let's see...

Find and deport all illegal immigrants and ensure they cannot re-enter. Apply this to anyone preaching hatred of the UK/West. You don't like it here, then leave, or we will deport you.

Change the benefit system to prevent the workshy from being able to just sit around and claim when they should be working. You don't want to work? Fine, we'll halve and then quarter your benefits until you get of your **** and find employment. If you're offered a job cleaning toilets you will do it or no benefits. Just because you don't want to do the job does not make you unable to do the job.

Somehow try and reverse the yob/chav culture. We need to instil respect (fear?) into the youth of today. Make them have respect for their elders and the police force (and other emergency services). Bring back the cane in schools.

Don't imprison serial rapists and murderers, or pedophiles (non-serial or serial). Excute these people. The taxpayer should not have to pay for this scum to live in relative comfort. They have commited more than one of the same act and unless someone really has it out for them, I doubt they have been framed multiple times. Obviously there has to be irrefutable proof of them being guilty. Why not do this for non-serial murders/rapists, well, if we can, without a shadow of a doubt say they are guilty and innocent person could be executed. If we can prove this guilt then by all means extend the death penalty to non-serial types. Offer these people a stay of execution in the form of being used in scientific experiments in place of animals. Once the test is complete, if they are still alive, they will be executed. This alternative will not be provided to pedophiles, they will always be executed.

Try and reverse the overly policital correct nature the country seems to have adopted. Do not bend things to suit the laws of other cultures/relegions. There is already a law in force, this should be accepted and embraced by everyone living in the UK. If you don't like it then leave.
Stop this "bah bah pink sheep" type trash. If the rhyme was a racial slur then yes, change it, but it is not, there are black sheep (furthermore I dont' see them trying to place the race card against their white brethren), so why change it. I doubt any black person would be offended by a mere nursery rhyme, it's change is probably due to some white official thinking it's in the countries best nature to change it. Other examples of such PC madness need to be addressed as well.

I'm sure there is more I could think of.

As for what actually defines a country, well, the culture and the people of the place woudl be my first thought. To most over here it seems a nice place to live. To some in Europe and other countries it's seen as a nice soft touch. We'll accept anyone, give them a house and benefits if they can't or don't want to work. We'll bend over backwards to accomodate them, possibly changing things to make their new "home" more like their old one, when they should be the ones adapting to their new home.

I'd argue that the things do require me to do something, as I cannot see any government, certainly not the current one, implementing any of those ideas, and I'm sure others would agree some of the ideas do have merrit.

Maybe I should come back and start a political party and change things

The bah, bah, black sheep really gets my goat (no pun). I honestly don't think I've ever heard a child that has been taught the original version point at a black sheep in a field and exclaim, "Look mum, that sheeps a coon!" Moreoever, I've never seen said coloured sheep denied job opportunities, paid less or racially abused on account of the colour of its wool. It's a f**king sheep!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!

We might as well just ban all blacks and ranges of brown that way nobody that isn't white can be offended. Hmmmm, maybe we should play it safe and ban white too, just in case the native UK population feel discriminated against. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd......since white is made up of all the colours in the spectrum we might as well ban them too. So, clothes, buildings, cars, etc will from now on be painted shades of greyscale until such time as the 'greys' (martians) land in which case everything will have to be colourless (thereby transparent). Then we face the ridicule of the fat and ugly who can be seen at all times in their transparent clothes and buildings so we'll have to gouge out the eyes of the population to ensure nobody sees and slags them.
