Definitely put the offer in!
See if you can persuade them to take it off the market whilst you are selling yours too - it migth work.

Sure you can put an offer in. Seller's agent will simply report to the seller that you have made an offer but haven't sold yours so you can't proceed. Most unlikely that seller will take his house off the market.

Thats what we have just done and our offer has been accepted "in principle"... basically the bendor will carry on taking viewings and if someone matches / beats our offer and is in a stronger position to buy, we lose out...

That's the way it works around here... 4 weeks later and we still havent sold - but our offer still stands and still counts and we have been back for further viewings to the place to keep them sweet and update them on out situation.

Good luck!

Yup get the offer in, and hope you sell yours before someone else wants the house you like, nothing to lose for either party.

Yeah but they will usually accept the offer subject to sale. Be warned though most people will leave the house on the market and maybe accept other offers if the chain is easier.

I had an offer put in on mine, so I put an offer in on the house I saw that I wanted, the people who made the offer on mine couldnt get the mortgage, so the people whose house I put an offer on, promptly withdrew my offer, and the only way they would keep my offer was if I got a 2nd mortgage whilst still selling my original house

No problems putting offers in on a house you like, at the end of the day it is upto the seller whether they accept and for how long

Bit different to Scotland... i had an offer accepted and the house taken off the market before selling mine....

Agreed on a date and i would have completed missives on it before selling if i needed to, just made the completion date 10 weeks in advance... luckily i sold mine pretty quick but the alternative would be a bridging loan.....

I'd pay no attention to your "offer" as it's worthless until you sell your house! I'd carry on with viewings regardless ...

When we moved 4 years ago, we put in an offer on our new house before ours was even on the market.

We contacted an estate agent the same day and our house was sold within a week before they'd even prepared the details.

As long as your house is desirable, it shouldn't be a problem.

Agreed. But it would make you think carefully about other offers that were thousands lower.
