I have the Sony 760 Digibox and a 5.1 amp. I have connected the optical link so why when I watched MI2 this evening on the widescreen channel didn't it work?
Any idea's apart from calling Sky!
Cheers

I was flicking through the December Sky magazine and there's an article in there about them being the first UK broadcaster to enable Dobly 5.1 on films.
I'm wondering if they haven't turned it on yet?

Well remebered that man. I've just found the Sky mag.
It says...
To get DD 5.1 through your Sky+ digibox and home cinema equipment, you need to connect an optical digital audio cable between your Sky+ set-top box etc
It does mention MI 2 was 5.1 enabled.

I read that as well. They also say that the Sony digiboxes work as well as thay have an optical out.
Any other idea's? I may have to speak to Sky about it sometime tomorrow. But I doubt I will get much help from them.

There's a Sky setup menu option somewhere that specifies what comes out of the optical output, IIRC, that by default is set to ProLogic, not 5.1. Check that one out.
That's on a Sky+ box, anyway.

The Sky+ set-top box costs £300, standard installation is £50 for Sky digital subscribers (£100 for non-subscribers). The Sky+ subscription costs £10 a month. Sky digital packages start from £10 a month.

I could be tempted if they introduce a lifetime subscription like TiVo. Hmm, Sky+ and TiVo, I could record a lifetimes worth in one week .
Martin.
