Thumbs up

Interesting that Bryan Adams and his team of crack American pro musicians nailed their part and were outta there back to the hotel, no comments required...

Who'd have thought, when that album was released, that the only surviving Beatle from the Fab Four would be Ringo?

And he wasn't one of the originals.

Me too. I was impressed by how well they did. I thought they would be terrible. It showed just how tricky Beatles songs really are once you look more closely into their structures.

Whoever it was that did 'She's Leaving Home' did a particularily good job of it I thought.

Interesting that nobody attempted a version of 'A Day In The Life' which is the best song on the album IMO.

Anyone remember the NME tribute from (20?) years ago? I think The Fall did "A day in the Life" - made a good job of it, too.

Never heard that. Did you see the prog last night? It was pretty cool, what with the original recording engineers and equipment and stuff

That was the Magic Numbers. And they only did the vocals (as indeed did the Beatles on the original).

Is there a second programme next week? I'm sure I read during the week that that all the tracks had been covered and that U2 covered "A Day in the Life".

Yea, they were good, really good. One of them is a dead ringer for Mama Cass/Janice Joplin hybrid. (Sorry, I mean Michele Stodart) Can't go wrong with vocal talent like that.

A second programme would be great. You could make a whole five part series about modern bands covering Beatles album classics I reckon....

Just watched it again. Who else stood out?

Travis were surprisingly good. Especially the bass player. That is a really tough bass part

And I've always thought they were sh'8te....

I am assuming this this going to be an album? I can't believe they would do all that just for a TV show. Anyone know? I for one would buy it

I too am hoping an album is made. Top programme, the Kaisers seem to have had a few "issues" in the beginning but came good. The 'Phonics learning the wrong song but nailling the Reprise version was very good indeed, Mr Emmerick did actually say "Your good, very good!" (bit of bias perhaps by me).

It just proves that with all the electronic wizardry about, real bands can still make good music.

Any one else notice that a certain Mr Mark Knopfler owns the equipment.

I think an album is inevitable. I read there is a second programme in the offing as well. One for each side of the album.

Apparently everyone is scrapping over who gets to do A Day In The Life, and who gets lumbered with When I'm Sixty Four. And Oasis are in there somewhere... groan...

I just hope U2 don't get A Day In The Life as is rumoured... the first programme was good, I hope the second isn't ruined....

It's the last one they should be trusted with. can you imagine how dreadfully turgid and worthy it's going to be?

The prospect does fill me with dread... Anyone but them......

If it were down to me I'd tell Bono they could have WISF, like it, or lump it (in the hope that they would turn it down and go away)
