Default Avoid VAT?

FOlks,

Any ideas how one could manage to avoid paying VAT on some things.

example

bathroom things 2,000 + VAT of 350
Tiles 500 + VAT of 87.50
Fitting (guessing) 1800 + VAT of 315

So if I could save the 700+ of Gordons money then it would be of great help.

I know I could put it through the company if it was just one bill have done before when I bought a PPP for my STI.

I could maybe makeup 1 invoice combining all 3 totals, but then if auditors were to check?

Anyother bright ideas please?

Thanks,
Shaun

Set up a Charity....... Or find a dodgy supplier that takes cash.

You might be better off not admitting you broke the law once by stating it on a public board.

If you buy these items I don't see what you creating an Invoice has to do with anything??

Urban - You're treading a fine line there.

It's all very well claiming some stuff but a car and bathroom accessories could land you in deep merde.

Trust me, I know a few who have "sailed too close to the wind" and been busted big time.

I do as it happens.

I know I could probably do that with 2 of the 3 elements, was hoping for an easy way to lump all three together.
Bathroom & tiles, but fitting services?

Give somebody in your household a permanent disability, sign the exemption form and voila, VAT exempt.

HTH.

Unless you know something more than what I looked at doesn't really help?

"You will find further details and information Notice 701/7 VAT reliefs for disabled people.

Are disabled people automatically exempted from VAT?
No. There is no blanket exemption from VAT for disabled persons."

OK, but they all seem to have serious guidelines on the disabled bit.

So, would a bathroom refurb which has a seat in the shower be classed as adapted for disabled?

Serious question by the way as there is someone in the house registered as disabled.

Thanks,
Shaun

Yes, if the person in the house is registered disabled then work on a bathroom from start to finish is exempt if he/she is to use it.
