There's never been much in the way of fantasy movies that are worth speaking of until LOTR was filmed so brilliantly by PJ. 'Willow' and 'Legend' spring to mind, but neither are a patch on Middle Earth's finest. 'Dungeons and Dragons' and 'Eragorn' are more recent, and I believe someone is working on Terry Pratchett's 'Discworld' stories now.

Cheers I think
I didnt think there had been much in the way of that genre of films until LOTR trilogy came out
I have seen Dungeons & Dragons, not seen Eragon yet, but it doesn't get too good a write up
Conan LOL, I used to enjoy them as a kid, but now
Would be good if they ever do The Hobbit, I do have a few Terry Pratchett books, but still never got round to reading them

I am surprised An*lLover didn't mention Ronin as that has an Audi in it!
I guess you are looking for fantastical myths and legends. I think LOTR is unique in bring the genre right up to date and making it relevant to a contemporary audience.
Star Wars (LOTR in space!).
King Arthur (LOTR with a stone)
Troy (joking)

I believe they are making a film (or films) of Philip Pullman's "His Dark Material" trilogy.
If they get it right that should be up there with LOTR.

There's a movie coming out at some point based on the 'World of Warcraft' game, which if you've seen it is very LoTR in style, orcs, wizards, dwarves, gnomes, elves etc.

300 is pretty good, and I know its a kids film but I quite liked Bridge to Terabithia when I took the little 'un to see it. Kingdom of Heaven is ok too. Pan's Labyrinthe definitely.

Watched Kingdom of Heaven last night, not a bad film, almost reminded me of helms deep when they all arrived at Jerusalem to take the city back
Ive got 300, not had chance to watch it yet, it has had mixed reviews, ive heard about Pans Labyrinth, so I will keep a look out for that one
Also will keep my eye on the Warcraft and Philip Pullman ones too

It must be the Directors Cut of this film. Much more involvement in the subplots and character development, although not for the weak minded at just under 4 hours
Was disappointed by 300, but will be getting Pans Labyrinth following many recommendations.

I did watch the Directors cut of KoH, but it was only 3 hours, or just over 3 hours, skip the two 10 minute music pieces and the intermission bit
Even at that length the film was well paced, so no boredom introduced, and Orlando Bloom was a bit more convincing in that than he was in Troy

300 was a refreshing masterpiece in comparison. Reminded me of Slaine in 2000 A.D. with awesome battle scenes and a dark storyline. This is Spartaa!!!!
