new linkin park album. what a bloody let down
jesus what a pile of ****, hoping it grows on you but first impressions are not good.
i was really looking forward to this album as i have loved all their other stuff (even reanimation had it's good points) and after listening to the album twice thru now i can say there's only 4/5 tracks that i like, but none of it is 'vintage' linkin park
thought they'd take a different direction one day and maybe this was an album too far, but i'm gutted. was hoping for a belter and got a 5hitter
any other fans on here that think the same or am i stuck in the past?

I've bought the album, I agre it does have a few decent tracks, but the previous 2 albums were far better IMO, I still listen to the old albums, can't see myself listening to this in 6 months time.
I am disappointed as i've been waiting ages for it and bought it as soon as it came out.
Seems they are too similar to other bands now.

hybrid theory was great and meteora was a cracking follow-up. collision course with jay-z was absolutely awesome, shame thay couldn't keep up with that direction of music

<to swim against the tide here>
I think LP have been very brave actually - they could have easily thrown out Meteora V.2 but they decided to explore a bit more with their music. I'm sure they were well aware that "hard core" LP fans may be disappointed with it, however there were just as many people who complained all LP stuff sounded the same. I think LP have always had these styles tucked away - take 'My December' as an example of that, and its not a unique example.
There are some slightly odd influences there in my opinion - the influence of Shinodas work with Fort Minor is pretty obvious, 'Shadow of the Day' could admittedly almost be a cover of a U2 song if we didn't know better, the possible influence that stuck me most was the slightly Ben Gibbard/Death Cab For Cutie/The Postal Service sound of 'In Between' (which as a pretty major fan of DCFC is not a bad thing to me!).
The one track there that makes it for me is "leave out all the rest"
