All the masts and spars are currenrtly stored at chatham while it was being restored. Still, doesn't look like there will be anything left to attach them too
Edit - Fire started deliberately firemen think
138 years old, £25 Million raised to restore her and some ars$hole thinks it will be fun to set her on fire
Shame that the person(s) who done it can't be set on fire themselves when caught.

Reports on bbc say that it is not as bad as first thought. The decks are not salvageable but the rest could be restored. There is a lot of restoration support woodwork that has been burnt that makes it look worse.

Listening to R5 live this morning
around 50% of the deck/internal fittings are away at a different location being restored as is the mast. so at least some of the ship is OK.
Damn shame

I live 2 mins away and was only stood next to it last night.
what with that and the talk about getting rid of the market to build flats, there will be nothing left in Greenwich the way things are going.

They say it can be restored but what a terrible thing to happen. An irreplaceable bit of our history all but destroyed. If it was deliberate the bloke who did it should be made to walk the plank!

Damned shame... just hope some ar$e hasn't got it in his head that this seems like a good idea and tries it with something like HMS Victory, that'd be an even bigger shame!
Anyway, seems it's repairable just that the restoration is going to take much longer and cost a great deal more. I wonder if insurance would cover this kind of thing.
