Watch out for the niteclubs/casinos, spetsnaz everywhere. If you are winning dodgy ***** take your chips, and what are you gonna do? Grim city, nice architecture, lots of boots? cheap beer, cheap food (with reason) ,wont be going back.
Hmmmm all in all interesting experience.......
But,good luck (in many different ways!).

Went there last year, dodgy old place late at night - be very, very careful.
Old town is best part to stay and go out in but there are lots of Soho style rip off clubs and you don't want to find yourself wandering the streets hammered late at night.
You can pick up two booklets at the airport, one shows whats going on, shops, shows etc.. The other is more adult and has all the strip bars in it.
Theres a place a short tram ride from the old town that you can go and shoot all sorts of handguns and rifles - can't remember what it's called but it's in the Lonely Planet guide.
Taxi ride from the airport takes about 20 mins depending on traffic (we went in Feb and the snow was a problem), if your hotel is in the old town you'll have to pay the driver extra as there's a kind of toll barrier on the entrance to the old town. Outskirts of town are pretty grim but the old town is pleasant enough during the day. The tram is cheap as chips to get about too.
That's about it, I went for 2 days which was plenty enough - wouldn't rush back.
