Default The rats are deserting the sinking ship

BBC NEWS | Politics | Reid to resign as home secretary

Seems that any old excuse will do now:

"From my point of view, it is better to take the chance, having had nine jobs in 10 years, to recharge my batteries."

Well, don't hurry back - you're not fit for purpose.

I used to like John Reid, well as much as I like any Labour person. I always thought he told it straight and didn't do that "politician" speak stuff.

But recently, he's really got on my nerves. Not answering direct questions and stuff and generally speaking like a politician.

If it's one thing I hate, it's politicians who speak like them

As much as I dislike Labour - Reid has been thrown from one losing battle to another, so no wonder he is likely to be feeling a bit fed up with the whole thing.

Had high(ish)hopes for Reid, proved to be another waste of space who cannot stand the pace or do the job.

Blair can certainly pick 'em, seems poor judgement is not just confined to his pewrosnal life then!

Cannot wait to see just what happens when flash Gordon takes control, just a shamew he is playing with the counrty i live in and love.

Sooner they are gone the better, but who to replace them with?

I cannot hand on heart say there is a decent challenger but that said it does not mean NL should stay in power, making a botch of it.

I spoke to John at great length on the matter. It's a great shame he has decided to bow out as a front-bencher. If he decides to change his mind, then he is more than welcome to be part of my cabinet.

Regards

Probably better to leave like that than to be dumped by Flash which is what would happen for sure.
