Sub-Woofer?

Thanks, I hope your setup works OK!
I am not a HiFi buff just wanting a bit of extra Ooooomph. I was contemplating the PC type kits at £29 but since they came with another pair of PC speakers, thought I might be able to get just the sub cheaper on its own!!!
Am I a BAD boy ?

I did have an old-model Yamaha sub which was OK but REL are in a different league:

I have a Q100E now which is excellent although I think it has been superceeded by the Q200E...
REL are not the cheapest (or most expensive ) though so worth browsing the "Subwoofer" reviews here:

Thanks

Have got a Yammy YST-90. Very happy with it. Works v well with films and music alike. D12 sounds awesome. Tried the Rel on home demo as well, just too powerful for size of room, and I'm in a good size room. Preferred the yammy to be honest and it was cheaper. Oh, and it can still be felt / heard in a room two flights of stairs down.
Listen before you buy if you can. If you can demo it, try with Matrix lobby scene or U571 depth charge scenes.

To be honest I don't think a £29 PC sub is going to do it for you. For starters it will have a smaller amp, the speaker sub will be smaller and it will just not be able to move the air. Not sure if they can be cabled into a 5.1 Amp system.
I have a sub attached to the PC which simply could not compete with the £140 (if u look around) Yammy.

I have a REL Q100 Sub and it's fantastic. It's so good that my neighbour came to see me when I first got it, to ask me to turn it down. Apparently the pictures were fall off the wall
Not cheap though I paid £500 plus in a sale!!! Wife thought it was great value for £100

Depends on the rest of your system. I've got a REL Strata III (£700) which is totally awesome (and was bought after 2 hours of listening with Richard (E) Lord himself )
If its just for adding to a TV system, without extra amp/speakers then this is obviously overkill.
Do comet do a 14 day money back?
The problem with subs is they are very room/position dependant.
What works well in the demo room (aka crowded area, full of shoppers and people listening to other stuff in Comet speak), may sound awful in your house, so you need to chance to take it back.
Putting it in a corner can reinforce the bass, but sometimes it sounds best in the middle of the room (and no, I didn't manage to convince my wife to let me leave it there!!)
