Rechargeable gadgets, leave in the docking station permanently,YES or NO?
Hi,
I have a few rechargeable things like digital cordless phone and touchscreen remote that come with rechargeables and docking stations. Its neat to leave them in permanently but,
1.Does it use more electricity
2.does it knacker the batteries
thanks
Paul.

Ive found it knackers the batteries out quicker, things like to be left to be about drained all all its juice before being recharged again.
In my experience anyway

As dave says.... periodically let them fully discharge before re-charging, batteries will last a lot longer......
However this is not recommended for pacemakers

I have a digikle phone which sits on the charging unit all day every day and hardly ever gets used...
It's not 6 months old (its about 12) but now a 10minute conversation can drain it dead...
These are my words.

And these words shall be mine, although other people may use them in their own post, but to be honest I would prefer them to be mixed up first.

Ditto the above recommendations.
It's best not to leave phone chargers and the like plugged in permanently either - I gather it ***** out the transformer inside.
Cheers

If the batteries are Ni-MH, Li-ON or Li-PO then should be fine. Its only old Ni-Cd jobbies that suffer badly with the memory effect. Being phased out anyway as they're not very green.

err, ni-mh have a memory - hence the requirement for the first charge to be a lengthy uninterupted one. and they should be fully discharged before recharging - but if you do that 50% of the time, then the battery life shouldn't be reduced too quickly
li-ion should be discharged fully occasionally - they don't have a memory, but their effectiveness is reduced by continual top up charges - mobile phones are testament to this - mine lasts just over a day now as i refuse to let it run out.
it was a 3 day battery when i got it 9 months ago.
