Might have been the Tiger model with a heady 90 bhp, about on par with a 1.6 Picasso but with less weight.

The Avenger Tiger 1500cc engines could reach 105mph as standard although they are rarer than rocking horses with diaretic trouble.I also seem to remember they had 4 doors. I used to have a Mark 2 1600cc Avenger years ago that it's previous owner had played about with. The speedo needle would be out of room and the motor would still be pulling strongly. I think the 1300GT came with 3 doors and wasn't sluggish.

A mate of mine had an "Avenbeam" - a combination of Avenger and Chrysler Sunbeam. With a 2 - litre twin cam Lotus Sunbeam engine up front. Not to be messed with
