Unhappy Urgent!!! Passport only valid for 3 months I need 6 months to travel, What can I do??

Guys,

Real urgetn one. I've just booked a last minute holiday leaving tomorrow morning at 0900hrs.

Thing is when I booked it I was asked by the operator if all persons travelling in the group had at least 6 months on their passport upon return to the UK.

I checked with my girlfriend and she either didn't hear me or just agreed without thinking, cos hers runs out in July.

So it's valid but not for six months after return.

Will this matter? is there something I can? Please help

Wing it, you may get away with it. People often travel using their spouse's passport by mistake

It all depends where you are going, if it's Thailand or Malaysia those two definitely won't let her in Some other countries are a bit more lenient, or so I'm told

It may be valid, but you need a visa to enter Egypt - and I guess they can put whatever conditions on the issue of one they like.

Most Embassies will only issue visas for, say 6 months, and hence require a passport to be valid for at least 6 months... I think they normally say "6 months from your date of return".

Good luck....

You ony need a visa if you plan to travel outside the resort of Sham el Sheik. And even if you do you can obtain a visa their end for £12. It's not a normal visa where you have to wait for ages.

Thank god for that!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got hold of the airport check-in company, and they given me a definutive anwser.

My Misses needs only 2 months on her passport upon return to the UK.

Some companies do ask for 6 months it just depends from one company to the next.

It's because of this fact, that tour operators will alway ask you if you have 6 months left, the greater of the two.

How releived am I!!!!!!!

It's nothing to do with the tour operator most of the people they employ couldn't find egypt on a map let alone advise you on immigration. Personally i would check with egyptian immigration that's who will or won't grant you entry into the country. They prob have an embassy or consulate website

I'm sure tour operators have to ask this question by some sort of agreement, but you are perfectly in your rights to travel as long as it does not expire before your return date. This is how it used to be anyway I have travelled before with less than a month on my passport.

sorry didnt see it was already answered..

That is quite correct, you are within your rights to travel so long as your passport is valid but, immigration officials in the country you are intending to visit are also perfectly within their rights to deny you entry if your documentation fails to meet their requirements

As finchyboy said, don't rely on the tour operator for this information, check with the Egyptian embassy
