Default Sky TV Link

I bought one of these along with some coaxial cable at the weekend.

Wired it up but it seems the cable I bought will not power the Tv-Link unit - The picture comes through but I cannot change the channel.

Does anyone else have this installed and what coaxial did they use before I go out and buy several different types?

firstly, is the red light on the Magic Eye?

Usually, you have to turn "on" the 2nd output.....

2) Press Services on your remote control, then select system setup (4)
3) Press the key sequence 0, 1, then select - you don't see these choices on the menu, but you should now see a screen entitled Installer Setup
4) Select RF Outlets to see the RF Outlet Screen
5) Make a note of the RF Channel Number you may find this easier to tune your second TV
6) Highlight RF Outlet Power Supply and use the right/left arrows to choose ON.
7) Use the down arrow and press select to Save New Settings.

Hope this helps

Sorry - Should have given more detail.

I have tested the Tv-Link on the Sky Box - It has power when connected to the RF2 Output directly but not when I connect up the coaxial cable.

Is the cable going through splitter boxes/amps?

If so, you need to make sure you get an amp that is TV-Link compatible......

Or double check your coax connectors - there might be a short....

To cut a long story short, as long as you bought coax /aerial cable, you can't go wrong.

I remember that mine was a bit of a bugger to set up too. Had to fiddle with the connectors too.....

Are you using a distribution unit?

Cable is just going from Sky box to 2nd TV.

After the initial problems I cut a length down to 1m and tried this - Still no power to unit.

I was using the connectors from the TV-Link package. I'll buy some more and try that.

Just strange that I can get a perfect picture but not enough power to use the Link
