Default quick response please, mobile phones again

going to upgrade my mobile tomorrow at 8.30 as i am impatient and that is the earliest i can get through to the department, either nokia 6300 or erricsson k800(think its this one 3.2 mp camera with slide cover on back).

nokia is new and i don t know anyone with it, has anyone got one, what do you think?

i know the k800 has been out a while but i can get another uprade in 6 months anyway, but it has a good camera and everyone i speak to says they really like it.

any others to look at, main criteria is ok camera, small and bluetooth, dont use it for web or diary etc.

thanks

ian

Hi,
I got my Nokia 6300 on Thursday and it is a cracking little phone
camera is alot better than i thought it would be considering it is only 2 megapixel etc

it is lovely and small so can be in your top shirt pocket and not feel heavy or anything but it has a steel? battery cover and front so is very sturdy as i dropped it already lol

I'm still learning all it's uses as i have had a Motorolla slvr for so long now i forgot what Nokia phones can and can't do.

it came bundled with a 128 mb mini card type thing and seems to be ok playing all the mp3's etc that i have put on it as well as a few games i downloaded onto it.

As for the other phone you mention i can't help as i have no experiance.

Hi Mart,

Do you know if the Nokia 6300 PC Sync software supports Windows Vista yet?

Thanks,

Iwan

No experience with either phones, however just replace my Nokia N73 with a Sony Ericsson W850i.

Nokias these days are to slow at operating, and are generally bug ridden. The Sony came with a 1gb data card and although it only has a 2mp camera it is still decent quality as Sony have been doing digital cameras for years. (The N73 had a 3.2mp and was slightly better though), however If I want to take proper pictures, I wiull use a proper camera.

Hi Iwan,

To be honest mate i couldn't tell you but even the pc sync software that came on cd with the phone was obsolete (spl?) as soon as i installed it and it done it's upgrade check a new version was available.

Could try looking on nokia.co.uk as the software is on there to download even without the phone??

Another question about mobile phones, my wife removed my daughter's mobile phone from the washing machine yesterday

Any chance if I let it dry out enough that it might work again?

I got a Sony after years of Nokia ownership. It was a big step, but it's great! I would recommend one even if you're used to Nokias. The menu is pretty similar and it does everything that a Nokia can do, plus it's got a wicked walkman feature and came with a 1Gb card!

I would have another one in a second. Much better than the bug-ridden 6280 I just had!

Ahh, sorry. Hadn't checked them in a while

BUT have a look on the GSM forums - they'll be able to help

Re washing machine phone umm, just make sure it's turned off and put it out to dry. You may need to get a new battery....

Also, take the SIM out, and try it in another phone.....

HTH

My 2yr old did it with my new phone a few years ago. Fell off the arm chair into a plant pot!!

Fubar'd.

Still, not as bad as my 6 month old Lab puppy, biting THROUGH my Wife's brand new D600 Oh, how did I laugh

Thanks, SD555, the SIM does work in another phone, so we're leaving the now VERY CLEAN phone on a radiator for a few days, see what happens

I used this software to re-flash my Orange branded W810i with the latest generic SE software version about 3 weeks ago, cost me £7.99.

Caveat, you can easily turn your phone into a paperweight if you don't follow the re-flashing instructions to the letter - be warned.
