Default Sales of goods act, what do you guys think?

If you bought a PS3 and already had a HD telly, would you expect the PS3 to give HD quality on your tv?

Trading standards say, the verdict would be based on what was "any reasonable person would expect".

Personally, i think Sony should have stated somewhere that the PS3 may not work in HD with ALL HD Compliant Items and to check before buying.

Basically, from what i can gather, Sony have used the latest v1.3 software but some HD TV's are v1.1 and v1.2. Might have helped if the PS3 was backwards compatible or they stated it is only compatible with v1.3 devices.

So, before i get trading standards onto it again.

Am i being reasonable?

Thats the whole point, they didnt say it "would" but saying that, they didnt say it wouldnt, but would it be reasonable to say most people would expect it to, unless stated otherwise?

Its only 'not fit' if you made compatability a condition of the sale.

Isn't that like buying a car with electric windows and then finding out they dont go up and down electically, only to be told "oh, you expected them to work?"

Somethings you just expect to work, regardless of whether you asked the question. Atleast thats my view and i think im being reasonable.

Implied and stated needs...

HDMI implies it is a hdmi capable set, regardless of which sublevel of hdmi used..

Stated needs... this set has only HDMI 1.1 capability would preclude the use / capability of HDMI 1.2 etc..

sale of goods act... not fit for purpose intended
