Question Hotels In Edinburgh

Hi - hoping to go away with my girlfriend next week from Good Friday to Bank Holiday Monday - want ideas for a nice hotel in Edinburgh?

Somewhere that's nice, 5* and relaxing Ideally, near to city centre as neither of us have been there and we'd like to see the sights and sounds

Seen the Sheraton Spa and Hotel which I'm considering, particularly as their Spa is rated as one of the best in Europe but wondered if anybody else had some personal recommendations of that or others?

Was going to drive down in the Scooby but if anybody know's of any good package deals with flights then please let me know. WOuld prefer to drive though as it gives us a bit more flexibility .... and a chance for me to drive on what could be some nice roads on the way up !!

cheers

Jai

The Caledonian, The North British and The George are all in the city centre and rather plush.

The above are more "olde worlde" - the Sheraton is more modern, if that's your thing.

Unfortunately not going to be able to do the Easter weekend so if anybody has some ideas for somewhere closer to Birmingham? Like a cottage or something? Tried Cottages4u and seen quite a few but if anybody has one for rent or know's of any then please let me know.

Not to fussed about budget at the moment but must be top quality

Was thinking Cotswolds etc but lack of time means I don't want to waste time travelling and would rather stick to places within 1 hour of Birm/Walsall

cheers for all your help peeps

The Balmoral is the large hotel at the east end of Princes Street, was good enough for Beyonce when she flounced up for the MTV awards.

Have stayed here, it's fantastic. But £275 ish per room per night, and usually booked up 3/12 or so in advance. For the 'original' suites with the guest book full of names you recognise bookings are at least 6 months in advance
