Question

Hi there,

Anyone else heard more about a new Subaru dealer opening in Edinburgh soon? Any more info? Having no dealer in Edinburgh really is shocking (A F Noble's don't count, they're not in Edinburgh! )

Not heard about that. There was a smaller
dealership out on the Willowbrae road but it
closed recently (helps a lot I know). If you
hear more please drop a note as I hate
driving 60 million miles out to Penicuik to
get serviced.

Cheers

Yea - Lothian Sports Cars. Popped in there to pick up some info on accessories a couple of months back - it was shutting down at the end of that week.

Chatted to the owner for a bit - top bloke. He was telling me about the difficulty Subaru were having in shifting the P1s since they doubled the quota.

Also disspelled any rumours about grey imports not working with Subaru UK diagnostic machines - in fact he owned a grey import himself! I got the impression he though Subaru UK were, how shall I say, not very competent.

Not a new "dealer" per say, but most of LSC's mechanics now work at RJ Tyres (just off Granton Square in Edinburgh). They offer full garage/service facilities, and have all the necessary Subaru tools/equipment (they bought all the stuff from LSC when they closed down - including their Select Monitor).

They will stamp your service book with a nice "Subaru" stamp, but as they don't seem to be an officially approved Subaru garage (my guess) I'm not sure how Subaru would view such a stamp if it came to warranty claims.

I popped down to RJ Tyres a few weeks ago and was fairly impressed. Has a bit of a back street feel to it, but the guys seem to know what they are talking about. Probably a good place to take your STIs and imports too, but for warranty reasons (as above) I'd probably opt to use authorized dealers for work to new UK cars.

Details are:
RJ Tyres
1C West Harbour Road
Edinburgh
0131-538-3828
(ask for Michael, ex-LSC head honcho)

Bought my car from Lothian Sports Cars in April (before they closed.)

Was advised at the time (strictly off the record and in reponse to "so you're closing in a month or so - where will I go for services etc?") that a new dealer would be opening in Edinburgh "soon".

Haven't heard anything since.
Will keep ear to ground etc.
