Does Anybody Own/Know Anything About Mobile Catering?
Helloeveryone,
I was just wondering if anybody here owns or knows anything about mobile catering busineses? (e.g. the ones at shows etc selling burgers, hot dogs, chips, jacket potatoes from a trailer type set up). What I really need to know is how much do people pay for the 'privillage' of having that space to sell their food there?
Thanks,
Scott.

Looked into this myself mate and decided not to in the end.
Location is everything.
outside footy grounds - forget it as (Most) are controlled by undesirables,
decent venues are available but will cost minimum of a grand and dont expect to park your crappy little trailer that you've just bought for 500 quid. you will need to invest at least a few grand - probably upwards of 8k or so.
dont let me put you off - i gave up, there is a bloke across the road and he does it and he runs about in a very nice car and owns a large house so he is doing something right.
anyway first thing get onto...
Nationwide Caterers Association
trailers.....
Catering Trailers, UK Manufacturers and Suppliers AJC Trailers Ltd
Wilkinson Catering - first for catering unit manufacture

Couple of mates use to do Glastonbury etc. This was in the days well before "health and safety" . But some big problems with security. They found the trailers robbed many times if they found a site. Also these days you get bother from the local mafia. Its a very tough game to be in.

The guy who ran the burger van local to my old workplace seemed to be pretty well off from it.
But then, he absolutely stank of grease, and would leave huge wafting clouds of burgerstink behind him wherever he went!

I always fancied doing this on a small scale at my local junior rugby club. Out in the middle of nowhere on a cold frosty morning with a few hundred dads who would have murdered for a decent bacon roll. And then burgers and hot dogs for the kids. I reckon 300 sales at least, at say £1 profit which is a nice little earner for a Saturday/Sunday morning (not forgetting the coffee of course)

a pound profit - your selling your self short there mate.
This would be an ideal start up - a small van, and keep it simple bacon sausage on rolls or barmcakes, and thats it.
massive profits on hot drinks - cost less than 10p and sell for 50p.
just need to get permission off the local council

Thanks for the responce!
This may be a shot in the dark, but how much do you think it will cost per day/per week at a school with about 600 pupils? (providing it is allowed etc)
Thanks,
Scott.

You will have Jamie (the fat tongued mockney) Oliver up in arms, selling burgers outside a school!

If the local council will let you put one there then not much really - best finding an industrial est nearby the school then doing both.
