Default anyone sold their house recently?

I am interested in finding out the % deal anyone has achieved with an estate agent.

Plan to play a couple off against each other - both equally capable of selling the house through similar means.

I would like to know what represents a 'good dea' so i know it when i see it!.

In Berkshire if that makes any difference. House is a 3-bed semi circa £270k

Cheers in advance

Trying to sell my partners house at the moment.

A national estate agent chain wanted over £3k to sell a £120k house

Local outfit wanted 1% + vat. You can guess who got the deal

Both on Rightmove, have a shop front in the local high street, and advertise in all the local rags.

1% was the figure I had in mind. As above, local agents with web, high street location and all that. If I can better 1% then that's a good deal!. Cheers

Why not advertise it on Home.co.uk or Houseladder - got to be worth a try and even cheaper!

We paid 0.75% + VAT. That didn't include newspaper adverts though.

My folks charge anything from 1% upwards for most people, some small stuff they do for fixed fee etc.

I put a stepped rate in place when I sold a few years ago, it helps focus their attention on getting you want you want & nails them on their valuation, £5k off the asking is £50 to them & £4,950 to you ! Incentivise them !

Thats cheap but most people move to houses local to them and many people still look thru the local rags, I think this is an important aspect that hatched wont give you (but hey at that price you can't expect it). You cannot make the assumption that everyone has a PC with internet.

yes, but even if you give it a try for 1 month (as I did and it sold in 2 weeks) - it's such a big saving not to be overlooked

1.5% on a house sold price of £520,000 - in Surrey. That took work as well. Foxtons were non negotiable at 3%. For that amount I'd want a b'j in their Mini every day!
