or, do you just answer and not think about it.
I always like to imagine what the person on the end of the reply, would look like.
Some I have met and know what they look like but others, ie PS Lewis, I have my own ideas

Its just the same with radio hams Lesley. We talk to each other all over the world and you always imagine a picture by the bloke's voice. Occasionally you get a chance to meet up and it is always a surprise to see what the others really look like.
