Went there to give a conference presentation once. Ended up in Alghero. Very senic, lovely weather, not at all tourist-y!

Don't expect any action though! It's VERY sleepy!!

Yep.

I've been. I went to Alghero before ****** of Ryan Air passengers started going there. Even though I still expect it to be very nice.

I'd suggest getting a car and driving to the stunning Corsica!

Sorry, but that's just plain wrong! You can't write-off the whole of Sardinia as sleepy/no action based on a work trip to Alghero! (and I'd avoid the place anyway, go to the Costa Smeralda area, or the South).

It depends what your benchmark is for noise/action/entertainment - if it's Ibiza, then yes, expect a more relaxed and sophisticated holiday!

I've been 3 times with the family - to the North twice, once to the South. Beaches are just STUNNING and food/wine is excellent (well it is Italian!).

Try: Essential Sardinia · Hotels, Villas and Apartments

Run by a couple who have lived there and have family there, plus they've visited all the places they book - superb - ask their advice on where to go, based on what you want from a holiday.

PM me if you want more!

Cheers

I lived in the north of Sardinia and its an amazing Island. It is also the second biggest Island in the Med so has lots to offer. What are you looking for from a holiday though? If you want amazing (if busy) beaches a lack of brits and a beautiful town then I suggest Santa Teresa/Capo Testa. From here you can visit Costa Smerelda including Porto Cervo (a playground for the rich and famous) and my favorite Porto Retondo. You can also visit Corsica easily from Santa Teresa by ferry to Bonefaccio. If you want a reccomendation for a hotel then have a look at Just Sardinia, Hotels, Villas with pools, Apartments, Farms Yacht Charter, Honeymoons & Flights in Sardinia, Italy. and have a look at Grand Hotel Colonna Capo Testa for a good starting point. I know someone who works for Just Sardinia and they know what they are taking about so should be able to advise you further.

If you want any more info or more details about anything let me know. Just don't tell too many people about it as its one of my favorite places in the world!

Andy

ps I am sorry for my poor spelling of place names!

Good place to visit by sea, amazing coastline and awesome mountain roads for driving. Nothing happening in the cities though

Lol the girlfriend brought home some Thomas Cook and Thompson brochures yesterday. £1,600 per person for 14 nights in june 4* hotel. I knew it was pricey but that is taking the biscuit. There are a lot better places to go for that kinda money.

The villa idea seems to be winning at the mo. Seen quite a few for £500-600 p/w in June.

Thanks for all the input guys n gals.
