Default City Break...any recommendations

Looking for a city break, in Europe, nice 5* hotel and something to do in the evening, a show or something.
Any personal experience? Any ideas?

barcelona's really nice and friendly. lots of architecture with Gaudi, etc.

Talin's also a good, quiet getaway location too.

Porta?

St Helens
You can stay at the Hilton in the town centre.
Visit the "World Of Glass" and learn the history of glass and its impact on the this very special town.
Go to the Rugby stadium on Friday night and watch the greatest rugby league when the current rugby league world champions play Bradford in what could be one of the biggest games of the season.
Enjoy a romantic walk down the sankey valley canal toe paths, or one of the many parks, including Sherdley Park and its collection of small farmyard animals and peacocks.
On Sunday there may well be powerboating on Carr Mill dam and an ice cream van nearby selling cold snacks and class a drugs. A great way to end your weekend.
For further information PM me, or alternatively, go to Florence and stay at the Brunelleschi Hotel... But you would be missing out on so much Tellins fun...

Another vote for Prague here!

The only thing is we went for 10 days - and still ran out of things to do - will be plenty there to keep you going for a weekend!

Toronto.

Sounds a little far but its only 7 hours (and lets be honest in the grand scale of travelling what is an extra 2-4 hours for a much better weekend) and IMHO one of the best cities in the worls. There is so much to see and do, all very close together, great bars and restaurants and if you go for 3 days you will even have time for niagra falls.

Flights and hotels are very cheap to.

I can't remember the name of the hotel we stayed in but we loved Copenhagen when we were there a few years ago. Tivoli Gardens is a must see.

Just an idea.

I was going to recommend that. Stay at the SAS Royal across the road from Tivoli, get a junior suite and you'll be able to see Sweden on a clear day, as well ashaving great views of Copenhagen. Book dinner and a show in Tivoli, then head off to a local bar on the south/east side of Stroeget.

Tivoli doesn't open until April though

Prague
Tallinn
Florence
Rome
Venice
Budapest
Vienna

Personally I would pick Tallin and stay at schossle or second choice the three sisters. Then Lunch day 1 at Baltasar followed by diner at Egoist and after that see what is on and the concert hall or theatre. Then between wandering around the beauftiful streets of the old town lunch at Dominics followed by dinner at Gloria one of the best restaurants anywhere in the world.

Thanks everyone for all the replies, some great ideas and I particularly like the idea of the Neuschwanstein Castle.

However I have decided to go a little closer to home, I have booked the Carter Suite at www. loch-lomond.co.uk

My auntie had her ashes scattered there a few weeks ago and although I have booked this for my wifes birthday, I will be nice to be able to celebrate but also to remember and say goodbye.
