Living in Wembley?
I am hoping that someone can can me some help, I have been offered a job which means moving down to the Wembley area. I was just after peoples impression of what it is like to live there, the people I have mentioned to before have been less than positive about it!
So does anyone live there who can give me some ideas about what it is like or maybe there are some good/not so good areas to look at? I would like to stay as close as possible to the stadium as the job is based around there, but am prepared to travel a little bit if there is a nicer area within a short drive.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Like the others said not in Wembley, Mill Hill East is very nice and about 20 minutes from Wembley via the back way or 10 mins on a clear day round the north circ in a scoob , or 30 mins away is Barnet, also lived there, a bit pricey but a very nice area and excellent schools if required.

Are you a famous footballer then?
As above. I can't think anyone actually enjoys living there. As per Skyline go NW along the Met' tube line to Chorleywood/Chilterns. Bit pricey mind. dl

Do you insist on driving to work, through the suburban London rush-hour? (Not sure if you need a works van or what...) There are many tube and train lines serving Wembley. Either nicer areas are further out (Pinner etc) or further in (Finchley) but latter probably more expensive.

Pinner is quite a nice area, and on the Met line which will take you straight to Wembley Park.
However, it is very very very very very very very very very very very expensive. You also have Eastcote which is ok, Rayners lane which is ok as long as you aren't in the town centre.
Stanmore is nice too, and again, has the Jubilee line which goes striaght to Wembley, but is also very very very very very very very expensive.
Then you have Northwood and Moor Park which are very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very expensive.

Thanks for the advice! btw i am not a footballer, the place i was offered a job is just next to the stadium.
To be honest, i'm just looking for somewhere nice, it will only be for about 6-10 months, it would be a bonus to live as close as possible to the stadium. my budget will be about £800 a month and just want a clean and safe apartment, is this realistic?

David, I'm out of touch (moved away 1987 to go to university, parents retired and moved to countryside), but hope someone helps.
Pete, I was born on Harrow Hill and grew up in the northern part of Pinner village, in a very pleasant street. We had a big house which was a little run down by some people's standards. We'd go sledging at Pinner Hill Golf Club when it snowed. Oddly, a few months ago my dad found some old docs for the house (I think of the 1977 flood) and posted them to the address - the current owner replied with photos of the house as it is now. Oh My Word, it's like a dream home from an upmarket glossy magazine! I'm looking and thinking "here's the living room where we threw darts at the walls... here's dad's workroom which always had wood shavings on the floor... that was the bathroom which took him 5 years to finish... here's the bit of the garden where we had the beehive..."

Bloody hell, what is it about Harrow and Sussex?
QH a nice place to bang your head on the door Prince of Wales - was that at the entrance to Moor Park Golf Club?
Man, I used to have so much fun cycling up and down Ricky Hill on my way to and from various trips to the countryside - fully laden with front and rear panniers, and didn't even stand on the pedals Or getting up at 5am to roll all the way down a traffic-free hill without touching the brakes to get to terminal velocity by the roundabout at the bottom All went well until one day the HGV suddenly appeared from the right
Am sure I couldn't do any of that these days

Yeah the Prince of Wales is on that sharp corner on the Ricky/Northwood road opposite the arch entrance to Moor Park. I actually lived at the old waterworks at the bottom of the steep hill (Batchworth Hill) which brings you down into Rickmansworth (before the roundabout was built). At one time there were 26 pubs in Ricky which was a coach stop out of London. And no I never did all 26 in one night
To complete the story my wife is from Stanmore and that is a place that has changed, resident wise.
