Default selling a house...new carpets?

I'll be selling up this year, and my carpets are for want of a better word, RANK! 3 years of trapsing in from work with mucky shoes has taken its toll. They were new when I moved in, but it is only cheapie rubbish.

I can buy a roll of cheap clart for 500 quid, say another 250/300 for fitting.

Do you reckon it make the difference to buyers?

i would change them as you need to make the house look apealing to get top dollar !! even though carpets arent included in a sale they would make someones mind up not to buy if they looked bad !!!

Cheers Steve, but this will need those kind of rugs that fit close up to the skirting boards

Yes, but not too far, I want a bit more greenery, and few less drunks in my area

Tell him I'm not talking to him

LOL, well can't you fit some cheap wooden flooring over the carpets then

as far as the drunks, just don't go out so much, then you wont have to put up with them, when you get in

He did tell me this morning you were looking at moving, and possibly out of the area, what I should have done, was started this thread for you in anticipation

Tell him yourself

Seriously tho, when I was looking at houses I was immediately turned off by any that had wooden flooring throughout the downstairs, I like the look of it in other peoples houses, but not something I want for myself

I was quite lucky in the house I got, as all carpets came with the house, and had only been fitted for a year, and I know they werent cheap, 6 or 7 grands worth in total, all plain good colours, all downstairs is tiled under the carpets too (why I'm not quite sure, but it was built like that)

If your moving, would it not be worth getting el cheapo foam backed carpets, and fit them yourself, if your moving it doesn't matter I would at least do the living room and possibly rugs elsewhere

Unless they are threadbare, why not get a carpet cleaning company in, we got our downstairs done for sixty quid and they looked like new,

I hired a carpet cleaner myself fro HSS last year, it was a complete waste of money. They are too knackered for that I think.
