Default Sounds Like a Scam

Got this email in response to an enquiry about the wifes car which is up for sale. Not quite the usual to good to be true because I'll have the cleared funds prior to the car going anywhere, but it still sounds like a scam to me. Anyone else had anything similar.

Hi ,
thanks very much for the mail reply,it look great and I 'm interested in purchasing it.Concerning the shipment i have a shipping company that will handle the shipment,so you don't need to bother yourself about the shipment.however,This is how the payment will be made to you. A client of mine in United Kingdom his owing me some funds of (£4,800} I will instruct him to issue a cheque drawn from UK Bank in your name and once it clear in your account you will deduct the cost of the {Renault Scenic}{£1400)and the remaining balance will be send back to my Shipping company via western union money transfer for immediate shipping arrangment. the reason i want my client to issue you the cheque is because i am financialy down at this moment and i am so much interested in buying the {Renault Scenic} because i have already informed my family about it and they are expecting it.If this is okay with you do get back to me immediately with your information as listed below for me to instruct my client to issue the Cheque in your name,Hope to hear from you soonest.
NAME :
ADDRESS:
CITY: STATE:
POST CODE: COUNTRY:
TEL NUMBER: I will compensate you with £100 for the running arround and transportation and also to consider the item sold to me. N.B, THE CHEQUE WILL CLEAR IN YOUR BANK BEFORE THE SHIPPER WILL COME FOR THE PICK UP..

Couldn't be more of a scam if it tried. Common one and you won't have the cash cleared, you'll have a cheque that seems to clear then bounces after your funds have gone.

the cheque will show as clear in your account then a few weeks later the bank will find it was a dud cheque and you'll be liable so will lost the money.

tell him you want cash from his client and see what excuse he gives

I've sent this response so I'll wait and see what he comes back with.

I'm sorry I can only accept cash as I need it for a deposit on the replacement vehicle. I have had a lot of interest in the car and have a few people coming to view it over the weekend. If cash is not acceptable then I cannot complete the transaction as the processing of the cheque will delay my ability to collect my new car.

Regards
