i bought the 3 disc "collectors" edition of the film of the film last month for around £3 in a factory outlet "Virgin XS" store
came with the real true story on one of the discs, interviews with the real rangers etc etc
cracking deal

It was a good watch!
I was suprised how true the Hollywood version was to real life.
Not nice hearing about the rangers 'being chopped up' by the Somali's though.

Great programme last night, interesting comments right at the end after Clinton pulled them all out and just turned the place back over to the local militia.
Basically I think they just wanted to level the place.
However the ramification of the black hawk down incident was felt in other conflicts by the fear of the Americas to fully engage in other skirmishes……. Didn’t last long though !!!!!
It did take a lot of ***** by the American military to allow the film to be made. They are not very good at admitting to mistakes as we are all aware.
Having spoken at length to a work associate who was in Iraq / Afghanistan and certain other less publicised conflicts
, he advised the Black Hawk down fight scenes are very very true to life.

I didn't see the whole programme but in the deleted scenes section of the DVD they cut the blue on blue scenes.
Did you hear that ranger say when they were leaving the city in a armoured car they noticed their own blokes behind them running.
Yep thats right yank, you just get yourself out of danger don't go back to help anyone.
