Question how much do you pay a kid to wash your car?

My neighbour's lad has his parents agreement to wash my car to earn some money on Saturday. He is 12/13 years old but almost six feet tall, so reaching the roof won't be a problem for him.

We agreed 5 euros + bonus if he does a good job, but I have no idea of if that's fair or not? I don't want to rip him off and I don't want to spoil him.
Personally I wouldn't do it for under 50 euros, but that's me!

What's the going rate these days, anyone?

Neighbours are good friends and their kids are very-well behaved, so I'm not bothered about scratches.

If he does a top job he'll get another 2 as a bonus. That seems fair.

Thanks guys!

In the end the lad did a pretty good job even though it was 4oC and raining while he worked. Leathered the car down under the carport too. I gave him Eur 7.50 for his trouble. He was happy as a 50% bonus is pretty good even by 'city' standards.

Why does he have to drive it to France to clean it?

£4 small car. £6 large car. No Fairy Liquid allowed.

Simple thing is to do it once with him to show him how to do it properly then just inspect it afterwards. If he does it your way and does a good job then he should be rewarded appropriately.

Is he rinsing, washing and rinsing again ?

Four quid for that and not a penny more

If he gets onto polishing.....negotiations needed there

<this is cash in hand, remember>

I used to get a 10 quid a car and that was over 15 years ago, but it practically was a full valet - leathered inside and out, boot done ashtrays the lot.

i'd say 5 quid if he leathers it as well (and i dont mean up and down the road)

maybe offer him more to do the inside

I used to get £10 by 2 lesbians when I cleaned their Merc, I was 14 at the time, so 13 years ago!

None of this leathering rubbish - just a bucket of soapy water and a hosepipe!
Used to hoover it too though.

I also used to trim their bushes occasionally!

This is by far the most important thing!! I've seen kids drop sponges on the ground then use them without washing the grit out of them!!!!
Rates - When I used to do it in scout job week 15 years ago we'd get between £1 and £2 for a simple exterior wash on normal cars.
