Default Whats a decent pair of jeans?

Not the £7 pair from Tesco's but something decent. Smart (ish) but not stupid prices. Any recommendations

I saw some Paul Smith in the christmas sale, from £95 to £40. Are they really any better than Levi's or are you just paying for the name?

Got a nice pair of Diesel Jeans from Bangkok at Christmas, best £7 I've spent on a pair of jeans.

(Something tells me their not Real.... But the fit is good and they feel good quality. Wish I had bought a few pairs)

One brand you cant go wrong with to be honest.

Of course you should spunk your money on clothes as expensive as this and then in another thread moan about house prices

See you at the 'ring

Well with most things it's the quality of the materials used to make the item. In this case denim isn't just denim. The best quality denim tends to come from Japan and is still woven on the old traditional looms by hand. You get more character in the weave of the denim as it's not done on a machine. A lot of quality denim tends to be signified by having a selvedge which is just how they finish the edge of the denim. You can have quality denim without it and poor with it but as a rule of thumb it's a more labour intensive finish so usual found on hand made higher quality denim.

edit: This is the selvedge. See the red cotton used to finish the edge of the denim.

This website has some quality denim brands. They tend to use the classic Levi cuts but will ammend them slightly in their own style.

I like Katharine Hamnet 'Hamnet' for cheaper jeans. Theyre very smart, reasonably credible and if you look about they can be bought for £20 a pair (rrp £55)!

Have a look on ebay! There are some bargains out there! I've recently sold 2 pairs of Calvin Klein Jeans, Versace jeans and Tommy Hilfiger jeans. Only very slight wear on the bottom of the jeans which is natural.

So spend a little bit of time and have a browse you will find something!
