What's a good DVD recorder?
I've decided to buy one. Mainly so I can transfer my VCR tapes of family, holidays etc before VCR disappears for good, and while my VCR player is still working.
I'm not bothered about HDD, and rarely record any programmes, but I do have a decent camcorder that I'd like to record from.
So...........what's out there? My TV is Toshiba, and I already have a Toshiba DVD player. My VCR is Sony, as is my camcorder.
And finally, are "remanufactured" items with full warranty, as seen on e-bay, any good, or should I buy new from a reputable dealer?
TIA, Alcazar

Have a look in the DVD section here - AV Forums
My parents have just got a new Panasonic DVD Recorder, it also has a VHS tape section built into it so you can use the one device to record from your VHS tapes onto DVD. I'm not too sure of the model though but it was about £270.

If you got spare PC bits lying about you could always build a media PC.
Can record and do all sorts of stuff - building one for the bedroom at the moment.

Treated myself to a Sony RDR-HXD860 at christmas, its got a 160 GB HDD and a load of other stuff that i will probably never use but is spot on quality wise and very easy to use.
Always had Sony and never had one break down or go wrong.

Btw I used Superfi Online - UK's best supplier of hifi equipment including separates, systems and accessories. Purchase Home Cinema Equipment, DVD players, minidiscs, amplifiers, cassette decks, CD players, Digital recorders, personal stereos, speakers, turntab and they were £50 cheaper than Comet or Currys.

I'm not giving a decent contribution to this thread, I just want to demonstrate how witty I am by taking the thread off topic in a muppet fashion.
