Default free accounting software - which do you use

Does anyone use the free stuff that seems to be available ?

If so which ?

How hard is a HMRC Self-Assesment form to fill in for a Sole Trader who is also currently in full-time emplyoment ??

If you not used to accounting software you may be better off using an Excel template.

No not doing anything for last year, just thinking ahead for something I may venture into during the next tax year.

Filling in an SA as a sole-trader as opposed to a company director isnt that different. Typically as a director you will be on PAYE and so can easily get your figures from your P60, its worth having an accountant for either status though to make sure you can claim as much tax relief as possible.

As for accounting packages the free stuff is typically pants. You can get yourself a legit copy of Sage Instant for £99.
