Question

......if so, can you help me resolve a conflict between the serial port and IR port? They're both on i/o 03F8-03FF and IRQ 4. The Thinkpad configurator is no help whatsoever.

Cheers

I have one here. You can't use both so in the configuration thingy you say I want to use IR so will nick an IRQ from this serial port.
Does that make sense?

Think so but even if I disable the serial port, the IR port doesn't seem to able to use the vacant slot. (Just reached the edge of my technical abililty )

So run tpn.exe - then select the icon for IR.
Choose enable then advanced and it lets you choose a port e.g. com2
you can check it's been disabled in the serial port icon on the other side.
Remember IR doesn't work in NT....

Question

I'm running Win2000 so should be OK. When I try to run tpn.exe from "Start, Run..." I ge the message which says incorrect path etc. Do you know where this executable sits?

Ok.. slightly different... but still with a T22

Its running NT4 (SP6)

How can you get it so you can hot/warm swap between the CDROM (DVD) and the floppy drive ?

If you boot with the floppy you get device errors for CDFS, etc...

I dont want to use multiple H/W profiles.

Does IBM have a driver/utility that allows for hot swapping, or booting with the floppy that doesnt produce errors ?

I have searched the IBM website...and nothing

Cheers,

J.

Thumbs down

It's getting wierder......
I've now got the serial port and IR port on different i/o and IRQ (03F8-03FF, IRQ4 and 02F8-02FF, IRQ03 respectively) but my Palm Hotsync manager keeps telling me the IR port is not available (?!).

Any clues?

Cheers

fox - had a look at swapping devices. We don't get any error messages it just beeps a lot if you swap the CD for floppy or vice versa. This is NT after all so I wouldn't expect it to work.
Ours boot off floppy ok as we use it for an NT build.

Kav - the IR control panel should tell you if IR is working.

Tee hee - just had a look in the bios and floppy boot and IR are both disabled by default. :-
Re the IR problem it gives you a different address for the port, dunno why... so enable IR in the bios and run the config program again and you should get somewhere.

Father Jack - Top Man!

All indications on the IR panel are OK so I need to get into the BIOS setup. Which key do you hit on startup?
