Default Home rental notice

Does anyone know if there is a set rule as to how much notice a tenant should give when giving up a property?

I am on a 6 month contract that expires at the end of March. My agents have said that I must tell them by Weds if I wish to leave at the end of the contract term.
The contract does not mention anythnig about informing the agent.

Wednesday is 10 weeks before I am due to leave the place and just a little too early for me to decide (I should only need another week to make to decision, which is likely to mean leaving, I just have more research to do).

Thanks,

If there's nothing in your rental agreement then one calendar month is all that's needed, on both sides. They can't enforce ten weeks without it being in your contract. Even if you are in a six month contract, you can still give a month's notice.

2 months for the landlord IIRC if it's an assured shorthold. TBH not checked for a while as I haven't evicted any tenants recently

I know the landlord bit is 2 months, thanks.

Are you sure on the 1 month for me?

Now do I inform them to say I cannot confirm by Weds or just reply when I am ready (I prefer to be helpful)?

I would just let them know that you can not confirm by Wednesday
