Transferring Hi 8 Camcorder to video/dvd/pc etc
Any recommendations for transferring all my Hi 8 camcorder footage to either DVD or PC to then burn to DVD ?
I have quite a lot of tapes, mostly gigs of my mates band, but I want to get them transferred so ultimately they can be watched on a standalone DVD player
I do have a capture card for the pc but its a bit long in the tooth now, would it be just better to buy a cheap dvd recorder and do it that way?
I would like to be able to do some editing, as some of the tapes have other things on as well, but I dont really want to sit there and have to watch 100 tapes of video footage whilst it transfers

Id duggest; and have used, a Hauppauge PVR card. The PVR150 costs about £45 and it includes a hardware MPEG2 encoder so you can capture and compress in real-time and the quality is way superior to software compressors.

Thanks Simon
we might even have one of these in the office
might be cheaper than getting a dvd recorder
what I would want to do as well is to add chapter points, preferably after the footage has been recorded/captured

one other question, just had a quick look at the PVR150, is there an external one you can get, so I could use my laptop instead ?
Its a bit more powerful than my desktop
