I cant remember my first ride on my chopper (cue smutty joke about some girls remember ), but I certainly remember my first fall from one !!
Mum used to be permanently picking out bits of tarmac out of my hands...
might have something to do with the fact that the chopper was angle forwards, what with the big wheel and small wheel and then that handy u shape in the handlebars ready for you to go flying through !!

I had a Raleigh 'Commando' with selectable gears via the right hand grip
I modded it quite severly, mods were
hi grip tyres with white side wall
speedo (I swear I got up to 35 peddling down a hill in 3rd)
full set of battery powered hi beam lamps
playing card in the rear wheel spokes (modern equivalent to the dump valve)

I had a chopper. Full-on banana seat with huuuuuge sissy-bar thing. I distinctly remember the tyres had a red pinstripe on them. My other bikes were:
Raleigh Grifter
Team Murray BMX

I bought one for two quid of Clive Jones due to structurl issues, the seat tube post had broke its welds so we just painted it gold, still strong enough to t bone and bend a Mongoose BMX, Jonathan Nobbs finished it off by decking off it as it crossed a main road, guy in a Granada hit it and went over it, got out shaking and went to look for the kid he had just killed, couldnt find him, just a bent chpper bike under his brand new 2.8 i Ghia X !

Could hear frickin zero unless you shouted into a guy's eardrum though. I now laugh at all those films where you see people shouting from the ground to a chopper and the pilot responding

I had the Boxer.
Smallest bike from the Grifter, Striker and Boxer range. Loved it.
My brother had a chopper, a couple of friends had a grifter and a tomahawk, then the BMX arrived I had the Raleigh Nightburner
